Re-Elect Lori Oviatt

In 2006, Lori was appointed to the Riverview Board of Directors to fulfill the remaining term of office created when Dave Hunter resigned. She was re-elected to that position in November of 2007. She is an active Riverview volunteer and community member and has lived in the district for more than 16 years. Her service on the Eagle Rock Multi-Aged Site-Based Council, District Technology Committee, District Communication Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Superintendent Search Committee, Interview Committee, Co-Curricular Committee, and Senior Project committee has earned her the Riverview Bridge Builder service pin.

Ms. Oviatt earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Iowa State University, and formerly taught second grade in Iowa. She has taught at all levels, including adult education. Ms. Oviatt worked at Microsoft for 14 years and continues to work for the company as a vendor. As a Learning Consultant she also works for a nonprofit agency training information and communication technology workers. In addition she volunteers and consults with Special Care Agency and Bridge of Promise. She and her husband, James, have three children Whitney (21), Cameron (19) and Coleman (17). All three children have been part of the Riverview School District: two who have graduated from Cedarcrest High School, and one currently attending Cedarcrest.

She is a member of the local American Society for Training & Development, a Microsoft Alumni and also on the Board of Directors for Bridge of Promise. She can be found on Twitter and Linkedin as well as Facebook.

In her spare time she writes sports articles for the local newspaper, The River Current News and is an avid reader and learner.
